Recycling Marathon in Sweden

The second Green MEME workshop, The Recycling Marathon held on the 9th of September, was organized in collaboration with the Circle Center, a unique and innovative organisation promoting sustainability through a "library of things." The center allows individuals, including students in Lund, to donate and borrow items like kitchenware, linens, and other reusable goods.

This event targeted volunteers,  students and other stakeholders visiting the centre, including those living temporarily in Lund. Preparations mirrored those of our previous workshop, with materials such as the weekly challenge calendar, MEME stickers, and the Green MEME game tailored to the audience’s interests. The focus however was on the Presentations, which showcased the Green MEME project and its tools.  Coordination with the Circle Center ensured the workshop would complement their ethos of extending the lifecycle of everyday items.

The workshop began with an introduction to our organisation and Erasmus+, setting the stage for a deeper discussion about sustainability. The Green MEME project was presented as a creative approach to inspire eco-friendly practices, with tools designed to engage individuals and communities alike.

The synergy between the Circle Center’s mission and the Green MEME initiative was evident throughout the session. Participants appreciated how the Green MEME tools, such as the weekly challenge calendar and MEME stickers, complemented the centre’s ethos of sustainability and resource sharing.

A demonstration of the Green MEME game added an interactive element to the event. Although time constraints prevented a full playthrough, attendees were intrigued by its innovative design and potential as an educational resource for Circle Center visitors.
