Eco-Urban Walk in Cyprus

Participants of the Eco Urban Tour in Nicosia, Cyprus, had the chance to walk inside the old city walls and visit urban landmarks including the recently completed Eleftheria’s square that has sparked great controversy in terms of being environmentally-friendly and ecologically sustainable.

Participants contemplated that often, landscaping companies and architects fail to grasp the local context and fail to account for the environmental and weather conditions, and therefore create urban landscapes that do not meet the needs of the local residents and can often deplete resources without offering something to the public, such as open green spaces, etc.

Participants had positive feedback for the event, and enjoyed the walk along with the discussions that ensured after the walk ended, and participants were invited for coffee and snacks.
